Governance
We are proud of our strong governance structure here at LS-TEN. As an independent school and registered charity we believe that education should always be centred on young people rather than profit. Operating as a charity ensures that all our resources are reinvested directly into improving outcomes and provision for our students.
Our governance model has two levels which provide both strategic oversight, professional support and educational challenge.
Proprietor Body – Board of Charity Trustees
The Board of Charity Trustees acts as the proprietary body for the school and wider charity. They hold overall responsibility for:
Strategic direction and vision
Compliance with the Independent School Standards
Safeguarding oversight
Financial accountability and sustainability
The board ensures that the school operates with integrity, transparency and a clear focus on delivering the best possible outcomes for young people.
Education Subcommittee
Our Education Subcommittee is an advisory board of experienced professionals from a range of settings, including mainstream schools and alternative provision, MATs, and Local authority services. The committee is chaired by members of our charity board of trustees.
The subcommittee provides robust support and challenge to school leaders. Their role includes quality assuring our educational provision, supporting continuous improvement and helping to shape and strengthen our curriculum and SEMH offer.
Our dual layered governance structure ensures that our work is both carefully overseen and continually developed, enabling us to provide a high-quality, responsive education for our students.
