Attitude to Learning & Education (ATLE) Descriptors
Our ATLE Descriptors are ‘best fit’ and should reflect how students’ positive behaviour for learning, organisation, commitment and effort, both in and out of the classroom, are helping to accelerate their progress. They indicate how students are taking increasing responsibility for their own learning, as they build successful learning habits and work towards our overall aims to help them develop from Dependent to Independent Learners, and in turn grow into Interdependent young adults, who can flourish by making wise choices and recognise the shared benefits of working collaboratively to shape their future and become active citizens who serve the common good, together.
LS-TEN Assessment Progression Framework
The LS–TEN Assessment Progression Framework to show how students are developing in their learning from Key Stage 3 through to Key Stage 4. The framework describes different stages of progress – such as Foundation, Foundation+, and Core – which indicate how confidently a student understands and applies their learning.
Each stage reflects increasing levels of independence and depth of understanding. Students may begin by recognising key ideas with support, then progress to applying knowledge in familiar situations, and eventually to explaining, analysing, and solving problems independently.
The framework also helps show the likely next steps in learning and potential qualification routes, such as Entry Level Certificates or GCSE courses. This allows teachers to track progress clearly and ensure students are working on the most appropriate pathway for their development.
